Have you ever bought into something that you were convinced it would become the next big thing, so you bought as much of it as you could, and now it is sitting in your garage, collecting dust? Do not be embarrassed, because for most of us, it has happened in one form or another. You get a sales pitch that has a great promise of a product and how it will work for you, and then you buy into it, literally.
A few months later, you are wondering where all the money is that you should have had by now, because these things were supposed to sell themselves, with a really angry spouse breathing down your neck to get rid of that wasted money in the garage! The worst part is that you only sold one and it was to your parents because they felt sorry for you.
Sadly, this happened to you because you did not have a plan. However, it does not have to stay that way.
You should know exactly what you want or need to get out of selling this product or investing in the product. If you do not have a clear idea of what to expect when trying to sell the product, do not give any money to the person trying to sell you on this. Take your checkbook and leave.
Would you buy a car or a house without inspecting it first? Why would a business deal be any different? If you cannot see a plan for the product, you should not invest, even if it is your kid brother asking you to fund his futuristic jet pack product that NASA will surely want to buy from him. Seriously, if NASA cannot build a successful one, how could he?
Once you have a plan and have agreed on the terms of the plan, you need to set expectations for the sales of the product. Are 5 sales a month going to be enough to cover all your expenses? Do you only want to cover expenses or do you want a profit. If you are selling an item that retails for $5, and your expectations are 5 sales a month, is it worth the effort? If the product retails for $500, is the sales expectation of 5 a month realistic? Is that good enough for you and your bottom line?
After the plan is in place and the expectations are set, you need a customer base. Who do you plan to market to? Mom and dad do not count; neither do any other family members, unless they plan to be customers for a long time. Try to stay away from bothering the friends to help as well, or you may find that you do not have many left after this. Try to find a product that is similar to yours and investigate as to who buys it and who would be interested in it. It is highly doubtful that a single woman who religiously visits the nail salon will be interested in buying anything that has to do with fishing, so do the research needed on customers.

How professional are you in your work?
Hi,
It's good to be with you as we begin a new week. i am thinking this will be the perfect topic to start your week with. i have treated, professionalism in my previous posts and today we will be looking at the qualities you are expected to exhibit as a professional in you work or business.
My Father use to tell me while i was growing that i need to focus on professional fields{Medical doctor,Lawyer, accountant,Architect and so on, the first boss i have had while i worked as a clerical officer said i have to be a professional as a clerk. though i was confused because i took that job to keep me on before i get into higher institution, that was the last job i will have take for a living following the words of my father. still i yielded to my boss words, and had to be trained to be a professional in that field. Growing up, i realized that everything you do you could decide to be a professional. as a saloonist, as a shop owner, as a teacher, as a bricklayer, Decide that you are a professional! then you will have an open mind now and so we could talk about the qualities you ought to possess as a professional.
1. A professional has so much passion towards his/her work
2. A professional will intensely want his/her work to succeed not minding what it will take.
3. A professional is keen to learning every aspect of his work unlike the amateur
4. A professional carefully looks at the needs of the business.
5. A professional looks, speaks and dresses to suit his/her business.
6. A professional keeps his/her work place clean
7. A professional is focused, clear and level headed
8. A professional does not let mistakes and shortcomings slide him/ her back.
9. He/she accepts difficult tasks and completes projects and contracts as soon as possible, with focuses on deadline.
10. He/she is optimistic and handles money with great care.
11. He /she faces other people's problem and looking for ways to solve them and make them happy, therefor have a high emotional tones:enthusiasm, contentment, appreciative and so on.
12. He/ she persist till objectives and aims of the business is achieved and tend to produce more than expected for the long run and also has a high quality product for clients
we could go on and on. Ask yourself, am i a professional, do i exhit one third of this qualities? Work on yourself, start today and achieve the very best of all in your business or place of work.

i have often wondered why many businesses fail and this act is on the increase. i realized that the principal factor is the lack of ability to take risk in order to achieve their entrepreneurial goals and targets.
So many business do not realise that even the business alone is a risk. so taken risky steps for the good of the business is a continuation of the risk you've been taking since you decided to start that kind of business. there is no business that is risk-free, the only requirement is the ability to take risk.
what could that risk taking task be? you alone know: could be application for a lone in a bank, speaking with someone concerning your business, going places with your business, reinvesting in your business, employing more staff, taking decisions that seems rash? what could it just be?.
You have to seat up right and take that risk because that could just be the waiting push to left your business to another level or stage. stay keyed as i will bring you the qualities of a professional{you are a professional in any thing you do, there are some qualities you get to watch out for in yourself}.

i really need to emphasis on this issue as an entrepreneur, i have realized one of the reason while most entrepreneurial business do not yield good result is as a result of postponement/procrastination of functions/activities/duty.
Many a times, we tend to convince ourselves that it is our sole business and you owe no one an explanation while the meeting was postponed, while the customer was not contacted or what ever. this attitude kills your business and makes your business loss it's focus.
Take a stand today, stop procrastination to achieve your entrepreneurial targets. could there be a place you ought to go for marketing your business, someone you get to met, a book you get to read, a risk you get to take, blogs and sites you've got to update? all for the good of your business? stop procastination and act now.

How PROFESSIONAL are you as an entrepreneur
If you are running your business solely for profit making hence not concerned about how much of a professional you are on that field, you are letting customers slip off your hands right under your nose.
Professionalism goes hand in hand with a well managed business. It does not matter the kind of work you do, are you running a saloon for men and women, a mini supermarket, a consultancy services, a laundry service, a crèche, a brick layer, name as many works people tend to take as common and as such don’t say a word about professionalism. The dictionary meaning of profession is a vocation or calling that is either learned or scientific. It also defines a professional as someone that is engaged in a specified activity as an occupation. So you will agree now with me that it is not just the doctor, or lawyer, or engineer or architects or accountants that are professionals. You are a professional in your learned skills whether you learnt it at the back of my house or in the school; you are a professional if only you exhibit qualities of a professional in your business.

A job is that, which you consider as consuming, time and energy and knowledge driven, stressful to achieve the aims and objectives of the business. It could be your own or you could be an employee, the main fact that you are not passionate about it makes it a job. The only reason you are focused is because of the pay you get from this business that at the short run meets your demands. While work is the reverse, you are passionate about it, you are emotionally toned to it, your persistence till objectives are achieved is rated high. Even when there is you are choked up with demands to meet at limited time, you are not discouraged. This could also be your business or as an employee. How are you running your business? Is it as a job or as a work?
If you are running you business as a job, I bet you it would not take you anywhere; you profits will just be on a short run as a sole proprietorship. As an employee begin to get ready for a sack in years to come.
I need you to take your business as a work, be passionate about it. take the complains of others {customers} first and make your business worth running and see the enormous profits you will continually rake in with out you knowing.

I am moved to make that statement because i have seen so many youths who wait for a call of appointment when they can actually do something great and satisfying for themselves, they wallow in self pity and effortless hope.
There are over seven hundred accurate opportunities that if any is implemented can make you successful {following the words of my mentor}. this then implies that God has distributed equal share of intelligence to everybody, if you don't search and bring it out and add value to it, you can never know your worth.,
Many of us have this lazy and sluggish attitude towards our potentials especially when we tend to be at the mercy of others. in helping yourself become great and of value to others, there are so many factors that comes to play. Among are:
*Spend time out to be alone meditatively
*Cultivate a reading habit{read everything you see}
*Be a positive thinker
*Avoid self pity and pride
and as i will always say let God be the first in everything you think, decide and say
i like using the words of my Mentor "you are a champion" i believed so much in those four letter words. they motivate me to do extra-ordinary things. so i am telling you today to begin to work on yourself and realsie the champion in your entrepreneurship effort.

I am so happy today and i welcome you to this blog, i do hope to bring to the knowledge of all especially our youths that you can be self employed, in other words, been an entrepreneur than working for a company or firm where you wait for a pay check on a monthly basis and your life is determined by that pay check.
it's awesome you know when you get to bring out the best of your ability into some work you enjoy doing. look at football for instance, these guys put in their best into what they love to do and they are rewarded for it. what best of jobs could they have done to give them more pleasure and earnings? I am so happy today and i welcome you to this blog, i do hope to bring to the knowledge of all especially our youths that you can be self employed, in other words, been an entrepreneur than working for a company or firm where you wait for a pay check on a monthly basis and your life is determined by that pay check.
it's awesome you know when you get to bring out the best of your ability into some work you enjoy doing. look at football for instance, these guys put in their best into what they love to do and they are rewarded for it. what best of jobs could they have done to give them more pleasure and earnings? So you think about it today, that is step number one for you on this blog. Think what you love to do best. ensure you note down every thoughts that comes out of your mind because they matter.
